That latte you just bought is the reason you won’t be able to retire, according to the financial gurus. But why has coffee become such a potent symbol of Millennial misspending in the first place?
Fantastic read. Thank you for writing something so clear and concise about the economic state that millennials have gone through, and most are still going through. Ok, now I’m going to go enjoy my $10 pour over in LA. Bye!
This is the most life-affirming, honest, well articulated and perfectly framed piece I have read in a very long-time.
Yes, I do try to make my own espresso at home with the faux Lavazza style coffee from the local Lidl. But it's not the same as the wholesome experience of enjoying a well made coffee at my local independent cafe, which has all the good vibes and tries to do its bit for the local economy too.
Thanks for this amazing feedback Michael, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the piece!
I actually mostly drink coffee at home as well, I just don't like people being criticised for their spending choices - especially when it's so cynical and weirdly petty.
Yeah reading the latest round of bullshit really annoyed me, so I felt like I had to. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your pour over!
This is a public service announcement! 🙌🏽💯👏🏽
Exactly what I was going for! 😅🤝
Reading this while enjoying and iced mocha at a local coffee shop. I laughed out loud when I got to “joyless hectoring” - perfect.
More than one person has mentioned that part! 😂 Glad you enjoyed it
