A lot of news going on this week:
A World Coffee Research white paper warns of an “innovation crisis” in green coffee production. The funding gap, according to the paper, is $452 million per year.
Starbucks has built a reputation for offering trans employees excellent health benefits, but that could all change in September. A new state law in Washington (where the company is based) could water down those benefits, impacting some trans workers who joined Starbucks specifically because of the health benefits.
Revelator Coffee closed its downtown Birmingham, Alabama, location without warning, so workers took over the space and threw an impromptu metal concert. (Here’s the full video 🤘)
Decaf drinkers rejoice! Coffee’s alertness boost could have more to do with the ritual of drinking it than any caffeine content.
